  7. WIN/FTAM (OSI File Transfer, Access, and Management) is a powerful, flexible
  8. OSI application that allows users to manipulate files and directories sorted
  9. on remote computers.  WIN/FTAM is based upon a ``virtual filestore'' model in
  10. which the files of any FTAM host are represented to the network in a common
  11. format, independent of the host's own file system conventions.  This common
  12. format makes the data interchange possible among widely varying computers.

  14. interface (API); ISO 8571 conformance; supports all transfer, access, and
  15. management service classes; supports kernel, read, write, limited file
  16. management, enhanced file management, grouping, and fadu-locking functional
  17. units; supports kernal, storage, and security attribute groups; supports
  18. unstructured text files (FTAM-1), unstructured binary files (FTAM-2), and file
  19. directory files (NBS-9); supports no-recovery FTAM QOS; and WIN/FTAM uses
  20. WIN/ULS and is suitable for use on TCP/IP as well as OSI transport services.
